Below is a message from two wonderful supporters of Surmount Global Foundation. Their explanation and understanding of our vision is outstanding. I hope their invitation inspires others to take action.
To whom it may concern:
Sally and I have been blessed to serve as the AZ Tempe Service Mission Leaders. We have LOVED serving with these outstanding young Elders and Sisters. They are blessed with brilliant minds and desires to find ways to serve using their incredible talents. One such Elder, Elder Matt McCurdy, brainstormed, planned, and initiated the idea of a Mission Training Center for Service Missionaries. It is called SMT (Service Mission Training.)
Originally, with Covid, the SMT was done on ZOOM for missionaries in the East Valley (Mesa, Chandler, Tempe, Gilbert etc). Because it was on ZOOM, it quickly grew to include many new service missions/missionaries across the United States. The Brethren in Salt Lake City heard about it and began to see the inspiration, the progress, and the blessing behind this wonderful idea. Elder McCurdy completed his two-year mission and was then called as a Senior Service Missionary. He continues to donate his time, talents, and energies to building the Kingdom of God. The Church has now taken over the SMT, using Elder McCurdy to oversee and consult with those in Salt Lake City.
In all his efforts, Elder McCurdy sees another need. The Church asks each of the Elders and Sisters to complete the Emotional Resilience course. The course is in booklet form. Elder McCurdy knows the blessing of digitizing the course – creating an app, creating supporting videos, etc. The Church leaders have expressed they love his idea and are grateful he is doing it, but they are not wanting to use Church resources, yet. Consequently, Elder McCurdy has formed a non-profit organization called SURMOUNT. He is using his own resources and those of his father (who has been extremely supportive and generous in developing the SMT and now SURMOUNT!) However, for this to grow, SURMOUNT needs financial help.
I am asking if you would prayerfully consider donating to this worthy cause. If it is not right for you, please know we love you! If it is right for you, please know we love you! Attached is a link to the SURMOUNT website which will allow you to donate as well as give you more insight into this wonderful project. In addition, Elder McCurdy is happy to visit with you personally if you would like to call.
His cell number is (480) 577-4500.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU for your consideration!
